This is the single greatest podcast I have ever listened/watched ever. It helpful for those trying to make a decent portfolio, and it's absolutely hilarious. I especially liked the anecdote involving Robin and the "design heroes".

Justin, when reviewing books it depends on the venue. If it's to hire someone, you look for the best work and person for the position.
If it's something similar to the Meet the Pros we were at, where you are trying to help out students, I have always taken the approach to be honest, but also give them the best advice you can to present their work in the best light.
I wrote my opinions on the quickest things I think students can do to present their work better here back in 2005. This was one of the resources we used for this podcast along with posting the items I like to see in a book I wrote in 2006.

Hey guys, here's an odd request:
Any tips for someone going to review portfolios? I've never been to one, yet I've volunteered to be a reviewer on behalf of the Denver Ad2 group.

Nice job guys. Killer format for the presentation.
I feel guilty for having the addy certificate in my book now.
