Another glimpse back in time at Conrad’s mysterious, dead career in advertising. I remember, vividly, telling myself I would never become a jaded old designer, burnt-out an dead inside. Then I worked several thankless jobs in that dreaded field, and … on the bright side, I have plenty of fuel to write this comic strip!

Interesting. I realize that graphic design and advertising are separate fields…but since I’ve never really worked in a “large” ad agency I never thought any deeper about the relationship between the two. Perhaps this would make for a good discussion on the Reflex Blue Show. What are the differences…how are the two fields intertwined…and in Nate’s case…How did “advertising killed the graphic design star”. Get it…like “video killed the radio star”…haha…ok ok…it’s a really slow afternoon and I’m bored. Get off me! :)
There is a lot of overlap between design and advertising (obviously). The general difference is that at a design shop, the focus for profit comes from the creative. At an ad agency, the focus on profit comes from the ad placement.
