For many design conference attendees, the conference highlight is often the exhibit hall. Hundreds of eager designers flood a large room looking for opportunities to discover sweet design-related products – and fill a giant bag with sweet design–related trinkets that probably won’t fit in their suitcases. At Design Camp 2012 held by AIGA Minnesota, there was one exhibit booth that really got a lot of deserved attention: the Studio on Fire booth. (Of course – the Neenah booth wasn’t too shabby either…)

Studio on Fire is a small letterpress and design shop in Minneapolis run by Benjamin Levitz and Selina Larsen that specializes in creating awesomely beautiful and tactile print pieces. As I state in the beginning of this interview, I think I grabbed pretty much every print sample they handed out in the exhibit hall that night. As you can see in the images below – their work is quite eye-catching, and – as Benjamin would say, “succulent”.

Hope you enjoy this candid interview with Studio on Fire’s Benjamin and Selina about balancing family life and work, not losing the artistry behind graphic design, and a little about Lord of the Rings too.
