Donovan plunges into some oldie-but-goodie books this week, starting with the you-probably need-to-read-just-because-you're-a-designer Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd. D wanted to preface this by saying that it's a work of fiction, and so he felt like he had to hold it to those standards, which, as a category, also includes these works. So, as before, know your bar. We'll be back soon with Donovan's take on Kidd's sequel, The Learners.

Maybe I need to listen to your explanation, but Cheese Monkeys only gets 3 stars and 100 Habits of a Successful Designer gets 4? No offense to the man Steve G, but Cheese Monkeys is a seminal book in graphic design.

I'll check out the video later.

Cheese Monkeys is a seminal book in design? Not quite what your blog said about it when Adrian's review ended with "Maybe he should stick to designing the books, and let someone else write them."

We do recommend actually watching the reviews to see where these scores come from, yes. Now I agree that Chesse Monkeys is a book any and every graphic designer needs to have a look at — but that doesn't make it a five-star work of fiction. I agree with Donovan's review.

Donovan, Contrary to popular belief Adrian and I have differing opinions every once in a while. If you read my comments you will see that.

Of course everyone is allowed their own opinion. I would have just given it four stars.
