Pricing and estimating design projects is one of those things we didn’t expect to have to do when we decided to become designers. But if you freelance or go out on your own, you need to come up with some number for people to pay you. Pricing seems to involve trial and error, adjustments for the local market, and a bit of guess work.
To help us sort out some of these issues, we bring in guest Justin Ahrens of Rule29 in Geneva, Illinois.
And since there is a holiday coming up, and we always need a creative outlet, don’t forget to enter and/or vote in Rule29’s 3rd Annual Hand Turkey Illustration Extravaganza.
Mostly though we speak of billing. Billing and following up on billing (otherwise known as collecting). If you have advice you’d also like to share, or questions we didn’t cover, leave them below. Next time we’ll be back to speak of pricing. Sort-of a reverse order, but it’s a constant cycle.
