I was instantly drawn into Eric Madsen‘s Design Camp presentation by his deep sense of story and self-awareness. At first it was hard to see how his talk had anything to do with design – as it started simply with memories and photographs from his childhood years in Texas. But as his story progressed, I was suddenly reminded of something: we’re not just designers – we’re also people. In Eric’s talk I was struck with the reality that our lives are an intricate design in and of themselves – with lots of hidden nuance and meaning.
This podcast is less an interview with a professional about the field of Graphic Design – and more a conversation with a man who just so happens to be an accomplished designer and illustrator. It turns out that Eric is also an accomplished musician (he actually knew John Denver!) – so be warned that there is a lot of talk about guitars and musical influences in our talk…
