1PT.Rule Comic: Knowing Would Be Half the Battle
When Donovan and I were in Fort Smith we had a few fleeting moments of rest wherein we returned to our hotel, relaxed in the room and Transformers was on HBO. I felt compelled to watch, as I’ve only seen the movie twice (once in the theater and once on DVD), although I’d attempted to watch it several other times and turned it off. It’s a very bad movie with very cool things in it — a paradox of watch-ability, if you will. You want to turn it off because so much of the story and acting in it is stupid, but you can’t turn it off because something awesome is happening 5 times a minute.
That being said, the new trailer suggests Michael Bay and crew are focusing on making the awesome parts MOAR AWESUM and … well, that story and shit can just … you know, that’s fine how it is I guess?
By contrast, the G.I.Joe trailer/teaser caught me completely off guard, and I think the strip today sums up my complete take on the matter. This movie looked like a train wreck from start to finish on paper, but something about what I saw holds up when I think about the cartoon. Cobra does something crazy, ninjas flip out, and the action is fun to watch. Congratulations G.I.Joe people — expectations firmly set. Now if they could just make Duke more like our Dads and less like that guy who stole our girlfriends in college…
